New Kilpatrick Scottish Country Dance Club was formed in October 1982 at the suggestion of the Rev David Hamilton, Minister of New Kilpatrick Parish Church at the time. From its small beginnings, the Club has flourished under the guidance of Peter Knapman, who has been our teacher from the start. The Club retains a very healthy membership to this day. One of the main events organized by the club is an annual Charity Dance. When both members and dancers from across the region enjoy meeting up, an excellent buffet, luck on the raffle and some first-rate dancing to a top band. Donations from this function, ranging from around £600 to £800, go to a different sponsored charity each year.
Please find below, a slideshow of pictures taken at the 2012 Charity Dance held in Bearsden Hall on February 3rd. Many thanks to Eric Hudson; without the use of his excellent camera (Nikon D40), this sequence would not have been possible
Below you will find a slideshow compilation of photographs from various dances over the last few years.
Another element of the club consists of the Demonstration Team. Together with the New Kilpatrick Ceilidh Band, Singers, and individual Musicians, We form a little concert party that entertain Friendship Groups, Church Fellowships, and Old People Homes etc. This of course takes up a lot of our spare time, organizing, rehearsing, and performing. However, our ‘Gigs’ are much appreciated wherever we go, and the delight shown on the faces of the foot tapping audiences make it all worthwhile.
I have great pleasure in presenting below, the New Kilpatrick Dancers, Singers, and Ceilidh Band.

’25 Years On’
In celebration of the ‘First’ 25 years of the clubs existence, a book of 15 Scottish Country Dances was produced, devised by members, and intrinsically linked to people and events over the period. An example from this book is featured in the following YouTube clip, danced by the Demonstration Team upon the occasion of the commemorative dinner on 17th November 2007.
A Jig for Eric and Margaret was devised by Peter Knapman to honour the occasion of the wedding of Eric and Margaret Barrowman on 31st of March 1990. David Ross and Norrie Williams, with Peter Knapman on piano, provide the music.
